Burnout
Burnout doesn’t usually happen “just like that” and it doesn’t come suddenly.
Burnout develops over the course of several years and often begins with an increased willingness to perform.
You have the feeling that you have to do everything justice and that taking breaks would bring the wheel to a standstill.
You are no longer really aware of your own feelings. You start to lose interest, often you forget appointments and put yourself under additional pressure. In all this tension you just can’t find a way out at the moment and increasingly neglect your health. There are fewer breaks, longer runs, everything gets a little more tedious and exhausting … you’ve entered the hamster wheel and can’t find a way out.
The tricky thing about burnout is that the body (apparently) tries to balance the energy reserves for a very long time, but at some point, the negative stress symptoms simply become overwhelming.
Burnout is also reflected in verifiable physical changes.
The feeling of “nothing works anymore” feels threatening and lurking and is often accompanied by depressive phases.
With the help of art therapy, I support people with burnout and burnout signs.
